Fuerteventura is the oldest of the Canary Islands. It was formed by volcanic eruptions which started around 20 million years ago, (the last one ending around 4-5,000 years ago). Today Fuerteventura offers a unique landscape, including breathtaking mountains and canyons, white beaches and crystal-clear water as well as diverse flora and fauna.
Located in the north-east of the island is Corralejo Natural Park, the biggest dune spread of the Canary Islands. Go there when the sun sets – and bring home stunning photographs.
The center and south of the island offer endless options to hike. Two favorites are Presa de las Penitas in the historical town Betancuria or the caves of Ajuy, a giant rock formation right at the ocean. Closer to Coco Surfhouse you can enjoy a popular hike around the volcano crater in Lajares, followed by some lunch at the local cafes just next to the volcano.
