Surf

You have never surfed before? We got you. If you have enough time and want to get the full taste of the surfing lifestyle, we’d recommend a surf course. This does not only include surfboard, wetsuit and transportation but also getting you to the best spots at best conditions.

If you decide to explore the surf spots by yourself its best to get around by car. On the westside, the sandy beach of Cotillo offers a great spot for beginners when the swell is small, and wind blows preferably east. The long beach is divided in sub-sections by stones which should be paid attention to and works best at mid-tide.
In the north, also known as the Nortshore, a 20km long off-road offers spot after spot. Punta Blanca and Majanicho can be surfed by beginners and even with bigger swell these are still manageable. For more experienced surfers El Hierro is a great option which can produce barrels in a northern swell.
Especially during the summer, the east coast works best for surfing, good beginner spots close to Corralejo are Playa Moro or Glass Beach. Secondary is also a popular spot to learn kitesurfing.
