Never surfed before? We got you. If you have enough time and want the full taste of the surfing lifestyle, we recommend a surf course. It includes surfboard, wetsuit and transport, and gets you to the best spots in the best conditions.

If you explore the surf spots by yourself, it's best to get around by car. On the west side, the sandy beach of Cotillo is a great spot for beginners when the swell is small and the wind blows from the east. The long beach is divided into sections by stones you should pay attention to, and it works best at mid-tide.

In the north, also known as the North Shore, a 20 km off-road track offers spot after spot. Punta Blanca and Majanicho can be surfed by beginners and are still manageable with bigger swell. For more experienced surfers, El Hierro is a great option that can produce barrels with a northern swell.

Especially in summer, the east coast works best. Good beginner spots close to Corralejo are Playa Moro and Glass Beach. Secondary is also a popular spot to learn kitesurfing.
