What is a surf house? There is no official definition, so here is ours: a place to stay built around the ocean and around other people. You sleep in a room or a dorm bed, you share the kitchen, the terrace and the pool, and most people around you came for the same reasons you did: to surf, to work remotely, or to do a bit of both and meet someone interesting at dinner.

We run one in Corralejo, in the north of Fuerteventura. This guide explains what that means in practice, what a stay at Coco includes, and what our guests say about it, in their own words.

In short

  • A surf house is a shared home for people who surf, work remotely, or travel to meet others.
  • You don't need to be a surfer.
  • At Coco: private rooms and a six-bed dorm, a co-working space, a pool, a terrace and a roof terrace.
  • Minimum stay 3 nights, maximum 30.
  • Prices from €28 per bed (dorm) and from €50 per private room, per night (October 2026).

What is a surf house, exactly?

The word "surf house" gets used loosely, so it helps to look at what is actually on offer rather than at the label. For us, three things define it:

  1. A shared home, not a hotel. There are common areas that people really use: a pool, a terrace, a roof terrace and a place to sit down and eat together. Our site describes the rhythm like this: morning yoga, breakfast by the pool, laptops out wherever you like in the house, a surf session when you finish work, and a barbecue in the evening.
  2. A reason to be there. Some guests surf, some work, many do both. Our co-surfing and co-working pages explain each side; the co-living page covers the evenings: board games, a paella, the barbecue.
  3. People. This is the part that is hard to put in a brochure, so we will let guests say it (see below).

Because the term is loose, ask any place that calls itself a surf house a few plain questions before you book: Are lessons included or booked separately? Do you book by the night or for a fixed week? Are the rooms private or shared? Is there a common space where people actually meet? What do the recent reviews say?

What a stay at Coco includes

Everything below comes from our own site and booking terms:

  • Rooms: four private rooms (a double with balcony, a double, a twin and a double on the top floor) and a six-bed dorm where each bed has curtains, a night table with a lamp and private shelves.
  • Co-working: secure, high-speed Wi-Fi and several places to work. The co-working space and the surf equipment are for the exclusive use of registered guests.
  • Outdoors: a pool, a terrace and a roof terrace.
  • Evenings: board games, paella and barbecue nights.
  • Practicalities: check-in from 13:00, check-out before 11:00, and a valid ID or passport at arrival. Cancellation is free up to 5 days before arrival; later cancellations are charged 50%, and a no-show is charged the full stay. A 50% deposit confirms a booking and the rest is paid at check-in.
  • Prices: from €28 per bed per night in the dorm and from €50 per night for a private room (as shown on our site, October 2026).

You can see everything on the rooms page and check dates on the booking page.

What guests say

These are Google reviews of Coco Surfhouse. Names are first names only; reviews not written in English are translated by us.

"After staying in 3 different hostels on the same street, this one was hands down the best. From cosy lighting to small touches, the whole house is super clean, and well-maintained. […] There is a pool, terrace, and roof terrace, and on top of everything there is a great co-working space in case you are working remotely." — Kadi, November 2025

"It's the people you meet. What a lovely Oasis to stay with special hosts and amazing guests. […] Everyone feels welcomed whether your focus is on working, surfing, exploring the island, having a night out or all of it combined." — Peter, April 2025

"The ideal place to disconnect, surf and work quietly from the co-working space. They also organise activities to build community, which makes you feel at home from the first day and lets you meet lots of people in the same situation." (translated from Spanish) — Sofía, May 2025

"I stayed 5 days and took the private room, which I found very clean and tidy. The people who run it are very nice. You can walk to the centre of Corralejo." (translated from Italian) — Chiara, June 2025

One guest gave us five stars and also a fair note: "A cool co-working hostel with great infrastructure! […] Top atmosphere, here and there a bit too much of a hotel feel in the state of the rooms, but very relaxed!" (translated from German, Tim, January 2026). We keep it in because a fair picture includes the small criticisms too.

Is a surf house right for you?

It probably suits you if:

  • You travel solo, or with a friend, and want to meet people without organising it.
  • You work remotely and want a shared workspace, a pool and the sea a short trip away. Our guide to working from Corralejo covers that side in more detail.
  • You want to surf, or try it, and like staying with people who are into it. Start with our surf spots guide.

It may not be what you want if you need to be alone in your own flat for a month. The house is shared by design.

How to decide

Look at three things before you book anywhere: what is included, what the last few months of reviews say, and whether the dates and minimum stay fit your trip. At Coco the minimum is 3 nights, the maximum is 30, and for anything longer you can contact us. If you are still unsure, read the location page to see where we are and how to get here.
